About Me

in a beautiful garden

an emotional response
to season or weather
places or people
that move me
this natural beauty
timeless but ever-changing
otherworldliness
and spaces in-between

I live and work in the beautiful North East of England with my husband Foggy, on a very windy hill with panoramic views from East to West. It is impossible not to be aware of the elements or to be influenced by them.

I love the beautiful abstraction of submission to processes, the alchemy of clay, glaze and kiln, the chemistry of paints and water. This enables the medium’s voice, the organic distortion from graphic representation, a random chance effect: or is this an opportunity for my subconscious influences to surface?

People tell me they see many differing things (as well as the intended subject, I hope) in my paintings, faces, birds, animals, dragons…all are fey or fantastical.

Excellent!

I have returned to using my creativity more productively in painting, writing and ceramics later in my life, the journey is so rewarding and every day I am reminded of the interconnectivity of my work, how lucky I am to have an inspirational full circle.

My ceramics, especially the dragons and hares, are unique. The dragons are named, sometimes by me, but often more appropriately by their new keepers. The initial conversation when someone asks me to make a piece really supports and develops the individual characteristics from conception through the fiery heart of the kiln.

Paintings can inspire a poem and I have shown a few examples on the popups - click the photos!

Amazing people have given me so much support, guidance and technical knowledge (Foggy!). You can find some others on my links page.

E-mail or ring me to talk art, for further details about any of my pieces or to commission work. I love challenges!

I hope you enjoy browsing my galleries and would be very interested to hear what you think, you can send me a message on my contact page..

Love and light
